Does anyone have experience with Huquvarna or Echo chainsaws? I need a new one and I wanted to use my credit card points to buy it. Home Depot and Lowe’s carry these manufacturers which is where I can get gift certificates. I’ve never used either of these brands. T.I.A.

Echo is a wonderful brand!

I have many pieces of their equipment, including a chain saw. It starts so eary, idles great, and cuts like a knife through butter.

I'd go Echo over a box store Husky by a mile. What are you trying to cut? CS-400 is a good general purpose saw for clean up and light firewood.

I have some land up north that is being overrun by cedar trees. I need to start thinning them out. They are stressing my Oak trees that put groceries on the ground.

Probably need to step up to the Timber Wolf if you are going to be felling trees. Good saw in the 60cc range.

Yeah but they sell 455 ranchers at the box stores. Which is very good home owner saw.

Most saws above $300 from husky are great. Stihl and husky are still top of the mark in the pro game

I looked into this but the trees aren’t big enough. Also they want cedars that have a high canopy on them. Apparently they want cedar lumber without knots. Probably going to fell them and burn.

I have the Timberwolf CS-590. It's a breast of a saw.

Husky 455 ranch saw is a damn good value.

OP needs to tell us how much bar he needs and how often he plans to use it.

I have a stihl MS391 with a 25" bar that I used to run the ever living hell out of, but now run about twice a year. It's a good saw for what I do.

Most of the trees i’ll be dropping are small, i’d say 4-6” diameter on average. I think a 24” bar would suffice.

That’s a helluva bar for cutting 4”-6” trees. 20” max is all you need. 18” or even 16” would work. I have a Husqvarna 353 with an 18” bar and it would make quick work of those trees. It starts easy and runs like a top.

Look at the Husqvarna 455 at Lowes. It looks like it would fit the bill.

I have the same saw and bar, lot of saw for what the OP is doing. He might only need the CS-400 which can option a 16" or 18" bar. I also have a Stihl 025 with those bar lengths and the 16" is enough for most things I run into.

I would go with a stihl ms250 45cc or ms391 64cc both are tanks sound like your gunna be slinging the thing around on small stuff I'd go for the ms250 personally and u keep it sharp it will still tackle the random bigger logs without breaking your back, but the 391 with a 18" bar is really really nice and rips through anything much better then the 250

The 455 is a decent saw but imo not as reliable as a stihl, my fam always have issues with their echos and huskys, and only use them as backups when they frick something up.

If u use the thing to work get the Stihl 391 and buy 2 or 3 dif bars and swap out for the random big log/tree
16/18" rugged bar
20/22" light bar
And something bigger if u want

I am going to offer a likely unpopular opinion.

Since I bough a Dewalt battery powered one my Stihl has been very lonely in its corner of the shed.

I have 3 Echo saws, the oldest one is coming up on 20 years old now an still starts/runs like a champ. I've had zero issues with any of them. For what it's worth, I also have an Echo trimmer, edger, blower, and pole saw. They've all been great.
