I’ve went out there this fall saw the new boat ramp and improvements. Looks great. The fish have been stocked in the ponds for well over a year. Should be filling up with water. Anybody know when it’s going to open? I can’t find a recent update..

Yep that’s the last one I saw. Should have had plenty of help with rain since then. Running out of fishing spots around here. We need it open

Bussey was a gem back in the day. I was with my dad and one of his buddies around 94 fishing in his buddy's boat. The wind picked up and water came over the side of the boat before a cat could lick its arse. Boat sunk and we managed to tie the hook on the bow up to a tree off the windrow.

I was 16 at the time and still remember the clusterfrick of that trip like it was yesterday.

What about Bonne Idee these days? We used to hammer the white perch back then. I always loved fishing there.

I haven’t been perch jerking but have bass fished the Bonne Idee several times in the last couple of weeks. Usually with kids and usually spend most of the time getting spinner baits out of tree tops, but have managed to catch some decent fish. Went to Horseshoe the other day and goose egged. Will be back at the Bonne Idee tomorrow I imagine. If I don’t try to sneak in Bussey

Little Bussy Brake history for you baws; my grand paw owned and farmed a couple hundred acres of bussy prior to the lake. There is a brick chimney out there that was part of his house that was moved prior to filling dad was raised in. I P did a land swap for grand paws land and another family’s.

Passed by thomases landing and it was slam full. So decided to try horseshoe. Caught 5 total but all 5 were nice ones. Smallest was about 2 and a half pounds. But bonne idee must be on fire because I guarantee there were 40 boats at the landing. Parked on both sides of the road

Bump. LA Sportsman had an article today on Bussey. Looks like it's getting closer to opening...

Is that the lake right outside of Jones? If that is the one , that is a sweet looking brake. Does anybody really fish it or hunt on it?

You got 2 Horseshoe Lakes around here, Horseshoe Lake Jones and Horseshoe Lake Mer Rouge. Pretty sure Rayvegas was referencing Mer Rouge, the one by the Bon Idee.

I haven't fished Horseshoe Jones in years but we used to do pretty well on the bass back in the day. Not sure about the duck hunting...
