I can’t believe they hired Britta to be the “hot girl” and Allison Brie to be the “nerd”. Truly amazing how they befuddled that casting and it still worked

Kinda the same dynamic as what happened with Friends.

Courtney Cox was supposed to the "the hot one" but Jennifer Anniston quickly became the most desired. So that started writing Monica in to a more quirky persona.

In two days I've watched all of season 1 and I'm about a 3rd of the way through season 2.

God I love this show. I watched it in season so now getting to binge it is magical. The continuity and long game story arc pieces are gold.

I just finished the bottle episode Cooperative Calligraphy where Annie's pen is missing and everyone is suspect.

The reveal at the end, and all the other items collected in that stash are great episode call backs.

Also, on second watch through I'm really appreciating Troy. His character is definitely my favorite. Every scene he's in is made better by it.

If you look closely you can see the monkey take the pen.

I think for about the first 12-15 episodes of season one, they really play up Gillian Jacobs, and she is hotter than Brie, but it seems like right about that time, Harmon figured out what to do with Brie's character, and she flew right by Jacobs/Britta.
