Usually, yes, this would be the time to go, but with high water in the Pearl water is very dirty and fresh. Went the past 2 weekends thinking I would catch specks, but only a handful. Reds are biting if you can find them, but channel cats are the most plentiful right now. You can catch them anywhere you go with shrimp on the bottom. As the river drops Specks should make their normal spring run. Should be soon.

Looks like the spillway is going to open again this year so probably won’t have specks until the late summer/fall except in Lake Borgne.
