Can 3D printers make copies of the 8720 or other Simple Mask?
I am apparently a boomer so I don’t know Jack about 3D printers

It’s got some promise.
There’s a blue jean manufacturer in north Mississippi that will soon be making mask.

Someone already posted this a few hours ago.

Seriously you just need something to stop the water droplets expelled from coughing and sneezing. This disease isn’t transmitted through aerosol particulates. I know people mock it but a bandana will stop that for a decent extent.
You have a much higher risk of catching it through touching a surface and then touching your face.

What is an 8720 mask?
Can print most anything but filter material I'd think.
I can make every part of that mask except the filter cartridges. Yes, even the soft touch parts.

This explains why your two threads I posted in contain such shitty OP’s

Sorry the 3M 8710 mask is the little paper mask that they were talking about on the news. It was originally designed to be a paper bra. I think they call it 8210 or something now. What you attached is called a dual Cartledge respirator.

I didn’t attach a thing. But yes that’s a dual cartridge particulate respirator. Mildly more superior than several layers of silk

You could. I would get my lawyers lined up, though.
3M aggressively defends patents.
And, as you said, the filter is what matters. The masks are more or less a loss leader. They sell the masks to sell the filters.
Another thing I have found over the years, if you have a need to purchase a good respirator mask (particularly a 3M brand) do not purchase from a big box store. The markup on such masks at Lowes, HD, etc. is ridiculous.

I was in litigation with 3M for over a decade. I think I was there number 1 enemy for a short time. If you give these to hospitals etc I don’t think they will mind right now. But glad to represent you if they threaten to sue you. ??

I said I could, simply meaning the capability is there.
Have no desire to.
I already have one and without filters it's useless anyway.

3M can't do shite if you give away masks.
Masks are so complicated and 3D printers are so slow you would be doing good to produce a mask per day with most printers.
