So, they are putting more people out of work? This is the problem when making things "free". Someone has to pay for that shite. It's not just "hey, fedgov said i don't have to pay rent, sweet!" and thats the end of it. What about those that rent out homes, or are in real estate? They make a living off of that. Are they just shite out of luck for picking the wrong industry at the wrong time?

Yeah, I don't imagine the government telling private owners that they cannot charge rent will go over well... Of course there are those that believe "housing is a right"...

Hmmm, do you really think so? I’m not banking (!!) on this.

Edit: just saw this is mortgage AND rent. Eff that.

Would be kind of surprising but at this point, half of what has been done has surprised me.

If only people took the personal responsibility of building emergency funds for situations like this.

fricking nanny state.

3 months of no mortgage has me conflicted, we can pay it so why wait 3 months. Then again we have things we could spend that money on to infuse the economy

All this does is you get to deffer payments for up to 3 months. They just add 3 months to the back end of your mortgage.

Ford Credit does this. Every 12 months you can deffer up to 2 payments. It is all added to the back end of your loan.

Example. If you deffer by two months and your loan was to have a final payment in June of 2025, the final payment will now be August of 2025.

Emergency funds are for when you hit a rough spot in a free-flowing economy, not when the economy is shut down on purpose by the government.

This shite is clearly much worse than we are being told. The Imperial College model is downright frightening.

Yep, isn’t 6 months of salary recommended?

Yeah, let me know how that works out when the renter has blown four months worth of rent and doesn't have the money to pay...

Of course, all those landlords are evil for charging rent in the first place...

Emergency funds are for emergencies, it has nothing to do with the economy...

If everyone in this country had six months salary on hand today, we would not have to be talking about sending folks $1,000 per month...

Forget that, that's 3 months of 100% principal payments.
