It's obviously to prevent sunburn. But when I see it I think overly-sensitive and/or douche. This person will also almost 100% of the time have a Huk shirt and Aftco fingerless gloves on too.

I recommend using them for you avid fishermen. In your 20 and 30s you get a nice tan.
In your 40s and early 50s you get actinic keratosis.
In your late 50s and 60s you have chunks of skin with meet excised for skin cancer.
