This is absolutely absurd.
Golf is one of the few sports that absolutely DOESN'T need spectators.
The golfers are literally hundreds of yards away from each other a lot of the time.
Total virtue signaling and cowtowing to mob pressure.

A lot of the golfers are from Europe and Asia, they aren't allowed to enter the country.

The golfers and caddies would most likely be very safe on the golf course with no spectators. The problem is going to be keeping them from catching it via hotels, airports, rent-a-cars, and all the other off course interaction with the rest of the world. All it take to cancel any event would be one player or caddie coming down with it.
