Look up Cuban Oregano. It also goes by Mexican mint. I don't use it for much, but its a pretty plant with a wonderful smell and will be good ground cover.

around your house, as in beds? or in containers?

be careful with mint and oregano, as they will take over any area you plant them

thyme and rosemary are quite tolerant and easy to grow, same with sage

basil, parsley, cilantro, etc, will bolt as soon as it gets warm enough

Make sure you constrain the mint, perhaps container plant it, as it can be very aggressive and spread to areas you may not want it. Some place it in a container and “plant the container in the ground with the lip of the container above the soil surface, to restrict spreading.

Shallots/green onions/chives - you’ll use probably use those more than any other herb. (cool season)

Also cool season, Dill and Fennel, attract swallowtail butterflies.

Remember, just about all common herbs like full sun and “dry feet” so plant them in raised area/beds.

Will be making a raised bed with lawn timbers next to the house.

plant the container in the ground

Plan to do this with the mint and oregano. The shallots will be in the big garden. Will add dill and fennel to the list.

Thanks for the advice.

Pretty sure I’ve seen Lemongrass at Cleggs on Siegen.
