The "diving" defender was the result of a nasty stiff arm. 7 was in decent position despite taking a poor angle but some how only managed to get a few finger tips on JJ. JJ did everything textbook on this play. Take notice of his presence of mind to keep the ball away from the defender by placing it in his left hand allowing him to deliver that stiff arm. To summarize Jefferson's success after the catch, part coaching, part instincts and part he's just a bad mofo! In no particular order

Clyde picking up the blitz like a boss cinched that play
And yet people on this board were screaming that 2 true freshmen should've been playing more during that game, as well as the next couple of weeks.

Exactly. That was a nasty stiff arm at top speed. Hard to see from that angle, but Jefferson put Sterns into the turf.

Yes he did. That's a bad man

I was just glad that we called a play to try to convert the long third down instead of running the ball to punt and put the game on our defense making a stop. No more conservative and scared playcalling.

He was seeing nothing but arse and elbows!

If you watch closely, he stiff arm'd that defender.
Caden Sterns, if Im not mistaken
That's what we call in the business a stern rebuke.

A good friend who is a UT alum has repeatedly said that play broke them this year - it certainly set the tone for us

Was there, can confirm it was a madhouse.
Upper deck endzone here. the texas fans around us were BIG MAD. they had been running their mouth too during the comeback. we let them know what was up at that point. THANK YOU JJETS. Him, Burrow, Chase and Stingley are my favorite tigers ever by a longshot. And I don't give a damn if my favorite players are all from the same team. they deserve it.
Tyrann M rounds out my top 5. But I really think Jjets is my #1. either him or DS Jr. I just love Jjets attitude and vibe. dances, all of it. GIVE ME MORE JJETS. Please Packers draft this man!!!

When that play happened the first thing my mind was telling me was that the offensive scheme had actually changed and this was going to be a very different LSU team than I had watched over the course of my lifetime.
I didn’t think national champions or Burrow winning a Heisman, but that made me believe that the offense was not going to be the same.

Can we relive the season from that point on?
