My wife and I have picked this for our next binge. Is it worth 4 seasons of our time? I get the general impression its good and wanted some current thoughts...

For me the show and books are a 9.5 out of 10. Big fan.

It's a bit disjointed at first, but comes together rather quickly. Great show.

I've watched the whole thing with a friend who likes the books and the show. For me, I find the show consistently OK, not great. My point is that if you like it, the quality is consistent. If you're not impressed at first, it's not going to get better.
Edit: Big Chipper does have a point, it can be confusing at first as you try to figure out who is who.

Maybe this isn't why I can't get into it. I've tried a few times and keep turning it off. I'm gonna have to try again soon I guess.

Decent show. Acting is bad but the plot and storyline are really good.

I binged all 4 seasons fairly recently, and I’m still not sure if I like it. 
Obviously it’s entertaining enough to get me to watch four seasons, but there’s a lot I don’t like about the show. However I should point out that I don’t really care one way or the other about shows set in space. My two biggest problems with the show are goddamn belters & shoreh aghdashloo.
If you’re a big fan of outer space you’ll probably love it.

It is a show i would actually recommend reading a synopsis of season 1 before watching. Season 1 was kinda hard to follow. After that it was great. Particularly season 3

I personally found it starts a little slow because there is a lot of set up in season 1. But that set up pays off in spades as season 2 is good and season 3 is amazing.
Definitely worth the watch.

I love the book and the series.
This is one of the bigger budget non-premium network shows ever produced. SYFY went balls to the walls and scored but they just couldn't hang on and had to sell it off.
They sold it off for big money and the original vision has persisted, which is rare.

Slow burn that gets under your skin quickly. The plot, tempo, production and general feel are just incredible.
One awesome subtle aspect I’ve found is the near constant backing sound tracks, builds much tension and other-worldly feeling.
