1.) the star players you speak about are already getting paid. Likely more than the XFL is offering

2.) the XFL has light years to go to offer the level of facilities offered by big time programs

3.) the XFL would run out of cash real quick if they kept trying to make bets on mostly unproven 18 year olds

4.) the league could still fold any minute and given how disastrous the AAF folding was, including withholding the players rights to play professional football anywhere else, a big time player would be foolish to take that risk over the much smaller risk of a career ending injury in college for maybe 50k

1.) Paying players in college is against NCAA rules.

2.) Players aren’t going to give a shite about how fancy a locker room is if they’re getting paid and they’re only there for 3 months.

3.) Who said anything about the XFL making bets on unproven 18 year olds? No one except you. We’re talking about players leaving college a year or two early to get paid in the XFL. That would make them more like 20 years old with a couple of proven college years.

4.) The XFL will NOT “fold at any minute” because McMahon has already invested enough money for three years. By then, they will get a new TV deal because the ratings have been solid. They have proven there is a demand for a 3 month league that isn’t the NFL.

They also have stated that they will not withhold players rights to play elsewhere once their one season contracts are up. Wrong yet again. You do realize that just because the AAF did a bunch of stupid shite doesn’t mean the XFL is as well?

and finally, “it would be foolish for a player to risk injury for $55k”. As if that’s the salary they would get. That number is strictly the average RIGHT NOW... and many players are making well into the six figures with QB’s getting up to $500k... for 3 months of work.
going forward... the money will do nothing but increase as well. Not to mention the endorsement deals they could make off the field.

No one is saying that it will be some mass exodus of college players leaving for the XFL in their final year of eligibility, but there absolutely will be many who do. To say that it won’t happen at all is just wrong.

You still have to wait 3 years to enter the draft. You’re going to turn down top notch nutrition and training and exposure for entry level money? What do you do for the other 9 months besides be forgotten about by NFL scouts

The NFL takes the most developed group of players and most of them flame out. They have he infrastructure and money to be able to afford that cost of doing business

If the XFL is chasing these top talents and paying top dollar, with similar strike out rates they’ll burn through money real quick

Seems like a very bold claim to make after 2.5 weeks.

Leagues act a little different when they are running Vs when they are in bankruptcy court

And yeah if I’m a player looking to make this change, I would probably see what happened in other start up leagues

Circle back to my posts about paying top dollar for unproven 18-20 year olds that in the best case scenario will leave your league in 2 seasons
