NFL playoff structure is about to be changed. Under the current CBA proposal, seven teams from each conference will make the playoffs, with only bye per conference, sources tell ESPN. It would go into effect this upcoming season. More coming on LINK .

A change nobody asked for and nobody wanted and nobody likes.
Designed solely to sell a few more TV commercials.
Disgusting but not surprising.

Does this put the Texans opening playoff spot in jeopardy?!?!?

Great move, the football world really missed out on the 8-8 Steelers and 9-7 Rams not playing for glory. Definitely complete teams with title shots.
Home field is now everything and there's going to be plenty of years when a shite division 13-3 team gets to coast over 12-4 teams who have to play all three weekends before the Super Bowl.

Reward more teams for being .500 and take away the incentive for another team being really fricking good
That’s terrible

What they should be doing is taking the top 6 records in each conference regardless of division and seeding them according to record. Since we know they won’t get full support unless every division is represented, do the 4 division winners plus the top 2 records remaining like they do now, but seed based on record, regardless of division winner status.
In 2018, the Chiefs and Chargers both finished 12-4 and split their season series, but the Chiefs had the better division record so they were the 1 seed and the Chargers got bumped all the way down to 5 despite having a better record than the 3 teams ahead of them. What kind of damn sense does that make?
I’m not opposed to the 17 game regular season with only 3 preseason games under certain conditions:
1. That extra game is a neutral site game like the Europe/Mexico games, maybe add in Canada as well. Each team gets 8 home and 8 away and then neutral site. And true neutral site games, not some bs like the Patriots game being in Boston College’s stadium or the Saints playing in Baton Rouge. Ideally they would split it so that they’d have 2 games in Mexico, 4 in Canada, and 10 spread around Europe.
2. Expand the damn rosters. 60 man active game day rosters, 15 man practice squad, and 5 injured reserve spots. Let’s your stars rest more during the game and they can come out during blowouts. If you are up 27-10 with 4 minutes left in the game and the ball at home, get your starting QB out of there. Let some younger receivers or back up tight ends get some snaps.
Don’t like the 7th playoff team at all. Does allow for 3 games each day the first weekend, but that will shite all over the possibility of moving the College Football NCG to Saturday Night where it belongs.

With a 17 game season added to this, it will just lead to more meaningless games for more teams late in the season. Prepare to see more half empty stadiums going forward

One more year of Brees then bye bye Roger
Can't wait

Just like the MLB playoff expansion proposal - this is lame a.f.

We are all about player safety here!!! My arse Goodell and the NFL. This greed is gonna kill the sport. More games, more games outside the US, and still keeping Thursday night games. All these O and D lineman are going to have to walk with a cane or walker 10 years after they retire.

The NFL and MLB hate their fans. Can't tell me otherwise.

Fine by me. More games = more betting = more money to be won by the Tyga
Posted on 2/20/20 at 6:33 am to lsuman25
All of yall going to watch the extra game anyway so why should the NFL care how you feel?

Modern-day Capitalism. Somebody greedy and selfish as frick surrounds himself by like-minded shameless sycophants, ignores the consumer and instead smugly does what he wants and tells them "THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT."
