No Colors Slat Trap Tutorial:
You can get your Traps from Cheryl in Angie LA (just look on Facebook Marketplace) or from Nets and More in Jonesboro LA.
In Mississippi you have to have a commercial fishermen license. Cost is $35 for the year. I then order dog tags from Amazon with my name and commercial license number on them. These have to be attached to the trap. Wire is best.
Here is my bait bag with dog tag inside my trap.
For bait I am a big fan of the Power Bait from Nets and More. It is a blend of soybean meal and cheese. It comes in dry blocks that are easy to handle. Just cut them into thirds and put them directly into the trap, or into a bait bag. They are 100x cleaner and easier to handle than stink cheese.
Then you just set the traps in the usual spots. A deep hole. Where a creek or a culvert flows into the lake. On a sandbar, etc.
In the winter you can check them once a week. In the summer, probably every two days is best. If there are Catfish around, your traps will be full.
