XFL ratings down in week two, but not bad yet

Week two XFL ratings sank double-digits from week one, but the numbers are still on the healthy side.
For the weekend, the XFL games ranked fifth, sixth, seventh and 11th among sporting events.
Despite the lower numbers, the XFL was still a substantially stronger draw in week two than last year’s Alliance of American Football. Week two of the AAF topped out at a 0.6 and 1.02 million on TNT, with games on NFL Network averaging less than a 0.3 and 500,000.
The question at the end of a successful week one was whether the XFL could sustain those numbers into the following week. After the double-digit declines, the question going into week three is where the numbers will stabilize. If week two numbers are the rule, the XFL still looks like a healthy springtime attraction. If the ratings keep dropping, there might be an issue

This is spot on.
There was always going to be some decline from week 1 to week 2 just because more people tune in for a debut. The week 2 numbers are still solid, so unless they bleed from there, things still look fine.

It should have been expected for there to be some dropoff in viewership from the opening week. If the XFL can continue to have good quality and entertaining games each week they'll be fine. There aren't enough teams and obviously the expansion teams don't have enough cache to draw in fans due to allegiance. An entertaining product is what will draw viewership in the beginning

not that its the biggest deal of the league, but the attendance for week 3 should be the highest so far

Sunday’s Dallas-Los Angeles XFL game averaged a 1.5 rating and 2.40 million viewers on ABC, down 29% in ratings and viewership from the similar window on FOX last week (Tampa Bay-New York: 2.1, 3.39M).
It was the top XFL window of week two, but trailed all four week one games.
The previous day, FOX averaged a 1.5 and 2.32 million for Tampa Bay-Seattle — down 21% in ratings and 29% in viewership from last week (Los Angeles-Houston: 1.9, 3.29M). ABC pulled a 1.35 and 2.15 million for New York-DC, both down 35% from last week (Seattle-DC: 2.1, 3.30M).
In its XFL debut, FS1 brought up the rear with a 0.8 and 1.36 million for St. Louis-Houston Sunday evening — down 43% and 45% respectively from the similar window on ESPN last week (St. Louis-Dallas: 1.4, 2.50M).
Thanks for putting the rating numbers in the OP

Only one college BB game had a higher viewership than the lowest viewed XFL game.

the xfl will not survive after next year IF they make it that far.

I remember in the first iteration the xfl did a MASSIVE number on Saturday night on nbc. Was like a 10.something I believe. The game was much worse than what we have gotten in any of the games so far. It fell off a cliff after that.

Yeah it’s laughable people think this will last.

So basically the numbers show outside of the NBA all-star game and the Daytona 500 the XFL is about the hottest sports product of last week? That's pretty damn good.

The Numbers will keep going down week after week.

I still say they started too early. Let people have a break from Football so they will be more compelled to tune in. Starting the weekend after Superbowl Sunday seems like a shitty encore.

I Haven't sat down to watch it yet, but i want to and unlike the AAF the word of mouth and talk about this is that it is a good product. So I'm going to finally check it out and hope it sustains

Besides March Madness, what will draw people away from the XFL? Surely not the regular season NBA or NHL or MLB. And there is still a group of people who are football fans but not CBB fans so even that won't tank the ratings.

The constant shite talent and play. There is no good football being played.

That's your opinion that is obviously not shared by the large amount of people watching two weeks in a row. I think the defense are playing very well and the offenses will adjust accordingly. Half the NFL is terrible and that isn't killing it, now is it?

Does it count if I put the 500 on my TV and I watched XFL on my macbook?
