26 man roster this season though.
Posted on 2/18/20 at 12:55 pm to diddlydawg7
Catcher: d'Arnaud, Flowers
First: Freddie
Second: Ozzie
Third: Camargo, Riley
Short: Dansbae, Hechavarria
Outfield: Acuna, Ozuna, Kakes, Inciarte, Duvall
SP: Folty, Cy Soroka, Newk, Fried, Wright
RP: Melancon, Smith, Martin, Greene, O'Day, Minter, Webb, Luke
My only real questions were Duvall or Culberon and 2 of Webb, Luke, and Dayton. I'm curious if they let Duvall play everyday in AAA until they need him like they did last year or if they keep him as a permanent bench/platoon player. Duvall is owed 3 mil and Culberson is on a minor league deal, so I think they ends up being the differentiator.
With Cole starting the season on the DL, we definitely need a 5th starter on the roster for the first week (I guess it depends on whether they want to start the year with an extra pen arm for the first 4 games though). Our schedule starts with 7 straight games, so we don't have that built in off day after the opener which normally allows us to skip the 5th starter in week 1.

Don't count out King Felix fighting for that roster spot. Really want him to preform
eta: His confidence is through the ceiling right now, so now is mine

not counting him out, but my personal prediction is that he bows out 3 weeks into spring training and "retires". plus...we really need a guy like Wright to finally step up and grab a spot. With Cole out for a little bit, this is the perfect time for him to step up and give the Braves something to think about when Cole is ready to come back.

Absolutely ok with this. Though I'd like to see Riley at 3rd.

one person who apparently won't be on the Braves active roster is Kelsey Wingert as reported on the Athletic...
quote:
In an unexpected move, Fox Sports South is parting ways with popular sideline reporter Kelsey Wingert, multiple sources told The Athletic.
The timing of the decision is unusual, given that spring training is already underway and Braves president and CEO Derek Schiller said last month that there would be no changes to the team’s broadcast lineup.
“We as the organization were really happy with the broadcast team we had last year,” Schiller told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution in mid-January.
Sources familiar with the situation said the decision was made in December, and some in the Braves organization were informed at that time, although Wingert wasn’t told until later. Wingert declined to comment.

There has to have been something going on between her and one of the players

I can't remember if I read it here on somewhere else, but someone was speculating that she was involved with RAJ or Ozzie.
After it was pointed out, I paid more attention to her post game interviews with those two.
I'm pretty fricking bad at reading women - even my wife says as much - so I couldn't really decide one way or another about it.

For a time she would post pics with her (assuming) bf from Houston, but I just looked at her Insta and don't see anything with him on it anymore.

yep.
supposedly he showed up in "great" shape, and he's definitely been on his game. I heard a quote or snippet from AA that for pitchers, they are mostly concerned with how they look over the final 2 weeks, so I think if he keeps this up, he'll definitely take that 5th spot.
It's a little frustrating to me that Wright has dominated (far superior WHIP and Opp BA over 8 innings to Felix's stats) and yet may not start the season in the rotation over Felix. The Braves really need Wright to take command of a rotation spot like Soroka has and Fried finally has, but this Felix signing might delay that. If Wright had struggled in spring (and he still might yet...there's still time), then I would understand but I don't like the way it's looking based on the Braves' affinity for veteran players.

Anyway Felix can take a BP spot instead of 5th starter? I just like his stuff and have been a fan since I was younger. Really want a good comeback story
