I remember them bringing Francesca back after getting voted out first and then she was voted out first again.

imagine being the first loser voted out on a season of nothing but losers. That person may be suicidal.

i know of at least one that didn't get to play at all. The weirdo who left singing. Not sure if there were more. But, that seemed like a shitty thing to do to a player.

In Palau they did a schoolyard pick for the tribes, and in the end one man and one woman weren't picked and were sent home. That had to suck so bad.

i mean it's just shitty thing for cbs to do. fly people halfway around the world letting them think the have a chance to play for $1m and then they get booted before even playing?

Yeah, they were there for one night, with all 20 people at the same camp, then on day 2 there was the picks to divide tribes and two people were sent home without ever really getting to play.

I always thought producers did them dirty.

The next day, Jeff Probst announced that they would now pick tribes via a schoolyard pick, with those who had won immunity getting first pick. In addition, the last male and female remaining would immediately leave the game

List of Survivor: Palau
Just finished rewatching this one last week. That was an awful season. Watching the one tribe just suck every episode until only one was left was awkward and painful. And that was fricked up what they did to the first two contestants who were chosen last in the school-yard pick. That's the kind of shite that'll get you kicked in the balls, Probst.

Same here. I figured they would have brought them back for another season or something.

I've gone back and watched several older seasons since Winners At War ended. I've mainly focused on seasons that have had returning players so I could do a ranking of who I think the best players ever are. Here is my top 5.

1. Tony - Two-time winner, and controlled the game pretty much the entire season both times. Had a good chance to win a third time as well.

2. Russell Hantz - Honestly, he should have won twice as well, especially the Heroes vs. Villains season. He dominated that season strategically.

3. Boston Rob - I never liked him much, but his record is pretty impressive, and he should have won the All Stars season.

4. Ozzie - He physically dominated the seasons he was on, and he would have won unanimously at least one of those seasons had his physicality not been such a huge threat. He was kind of dumb though.

5. Parvati - I wasn't as impressed with her game after re-watching Micronesia. Cirie and Amanda did more to advance that alliance, but she was really good in Heroes vs. Villains. Some of that was Russell, but she made some big moves herself.

1-3 I'm pretty solid on. 4 and 5 were tougher decisions.

I've come around to this board's thinking on Sandra. Her only impressive move on Heroes vs Villains was getting Russell to turn on Coach. And she is awful at the physical side of the game.

Some honorable mentions:

Cochran - Not that impressive his first season, but dominated his second one.

Kim - dominated her original season. Kind of an afterthought in Winners At War

Tyson - Getting played by Russell so badly in Heroes vs Villains knocked him out of my Top 5. That was a really dumb move the night he got voted out.

Malcolm - Another one that would have won at least one of his seasons had he not been such a physical threat.

Devins - Loved how he single-handedly caused so much chaos when he got back in the game.

Cirie - I always liked her social game, and it worked as she made it very far in all of her seasons.

Michelle - I crapped on her a lot, but she's a better player than I gave her credit for. You don't make it to the final 3 of an all winners season by just sheer luck.

did you watch the season when he laid down and cried in the jungle?

i can see a case for him on all-stars but the season he won was basically handed to him.

Yes, that was Heroes vs Villains. He thought he had Russell dead to rights and Russell flipped the script on him. It was awesome to watch, and Rob was fuming when Tyson got voted off.

So, Russell had a hidden immunity idol and was working with Parvati. Rob's group was going to split the vote, 3 to Russell and 3 to Parvati in case Russell played his idol. Russell, Parvati, and Denise were all voting for Tyson. Rob's side would have gotten Parvati out on the re-vote. But Russell convinced Tyson he saw the writing on the wall and was voting for Parvati. He then gave his hidden immunity to Parvati, and Tyson believed Russell and voted for Parvati, while Russell voted for Tyson. 2 votes Russell, 4 votes for Parvati that didn't count, 3 votes for Tyson.

That was also the season JT gave his hidden immunity idol to Russell after an immunity challenge before the merge.

Tom, Yul, and Earl for dominating their original seasons.

JT would have been here if he has only played one season... but giving Russell his immunity idol in Heroes vs. Villains is an all-time bonehead move.

He also fricked up pretty bad in Game Changers if I remember right.

Yes, I knew there was someone similar to Malcolm I was forgetting.

I have little recollection of Tom's season, and I didn't really care for him on Heroes vs Villains. I'll try to check his season out.

the first 3-4 seasons are still the best to me.

1. Hatch invented the alliance strategy

2. people looked like they were literally starving

3. living with just a fence between you and the lions

ETA: 6. Jenna and Heidi and peanut butter.

We tried watching the first season a couple of years ago, and it was pretty boring. The final Tribal was pretty good when everyone went off on Hatch, but that was about it.

Was good when it first aired. Of course it is boring compared to now.

The final tribal was so good, that's what hooked me.
