That's cute but the people voting for this are non-native Virginians and they aren't doing it to reduce gov power. But you knew that.

They only did it so that their prog friends could move on eliminating monument ave. It's a beautiful street rich in history that your prog buddies from the NE don't like.

But don't pretend that this is to just give power back to the localities. That's disingenuous at best. You know why the prog led legislature did it.

Tear them down! Tear them down!

Their urge to destroy statues and history is very Taliban like.

They very well might stay put, they might not. But the city of Richmond should be able to decide, just like any other statue in the state and the communities they belong to.

No.

Those statues belong to Virginians.

Not to these, transplants, these people from New York, and Boston.

These people don’t have the right to an opinion.

Can we give NOVA to Maryland?

At this point, that seems like the only option to save the Commonwealth. Otherwise, we get controlled by people that don't love Virginia. They only love the progressive religion.

I disagree, if that were true they would’ve moved to eliminate them altogether. There are tons of other confederate statues in VA outside monument ave in Richmond. Lexington, Lynchburg, Shenandoah county (just off the top of my head) that are in Trump country and that locals can keep.

Considering Ds completely run the state, it’s a good compromise.

You don't think they did this to open the doors to eliminate the statues?

I don't even know how to react to that. It's like you haven't got your head wrapped around their intentions.

This was the first hurdle. They cleared it.

Just wait.

If you think they did this for some benevolent reason just to reduce the power of the State that's just unbelievable to me. They are putting in State wide rules about guns. That fit the narrative about reducing state powers? Of course not. If they wanted to reduce State gov power they would leave the gun issue to the localities.

You are usually pretty damn reasonable but you are just wrong here.

I've been reading about all these (mostly Yankee) transplants leading this charge. They have zero interest in reducing State powers. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to. I don't care either way.

But most of these house scumbags are from outside VA, worked in DC, NOVA for various prog entities and are not for ALL Virginians. How could they be? They aren't Vigininians themselves.

Well, actually they do. That’s what happens when you move somewhere and register to vote.

That doesn’t mean a thing.

They’re not Virginians.

I’m in the county technically so I don’t have a vote if when it comes up. Yes, it could happen, but I don’t think it’s a given. People seem to have a love/hate relationship with them.

That said, if it does happen, it’ll be decided democratically and in the light of day. Esp if the alternative is by crane and tarp in the middle of the night (like New Orleans).

What do you mean you are in the county? Henrico?

Right. The voters will now decide. They know some localities will vote to tear them down. You know it too. I am not sure why you are pretending that this is some locals rights movement when that isn't the case at all.

That gives them power, but not the right.

It will get ugly.

I’m not sure what kind of semantics war you think you’re winning, but it’s a funny one.

Lima is right. They aren’t Virginians. They are residents of the commonwealth intent on fundamentally changing the Commonwealth.

I would just appreciate that you people were honest about this. The goal was to open the door to removal. The goal was not about shrinking the State.

That's so dishonest that I can't even believe it. Just gloat about it. I'd respect that more than the denial.

Hahahaha, we have moved enough people from out of state to completely go postal on you deplorables.

Yeah, Henrico. So if they did a referendum I’m assuming I’d be excluded.

I’m fine if they stay or go, again, it makes total sense that they belong to the communities. Why should I have a vote on a stonewall Jackson statue in mt. Jackson, va or Lee in Lexington? I can’t understand why they should get some exception from local jurisdiction. It’s totally arbitrary and inconsistent.

Ok fine, the small gov comment was a little snide, I’ll give you that.

I’m not sure there is another state in which the political divide is as deep as Virginia right now. I seriously would not be surprised if there weren’t massive secession movements in Virginia these next few years. Northern Virginia is a left wing Mecca.

They ARE Virginians. In every sense of the word that actually matters.

This is like Ds saying, “not my president”. It’s fricking nonsense! And you know it!
