The style of play hurts the crowd energy

All college basketball crowds get excited after 3 point shots and we don’t make many of those.
It’s really hard to create a lot of enthusiasm following two made free throws, which is how we score a large portion of our points.

The second chance points get them going but those were lacking a bit tonight too.

You know there was a time when the three wasn’t even a thing.

I disagree it’s all marketing. DJ C Mix has ran its course. He’s awful. The in hand marketing shite is bad. McDonald’s small fry, dance off, flex your muscles... come on..

Dude no...it’s just a bad basketball crowd. Even as we needed stops down 4 late, the crowd mostly sat on its hands. We need to stop making excuses for it
“Ehhh 6pm is too early “
“11am is too early”
“Style of play isn’t exciting enough”
Come on

I don’t usually make excuses for the crowd, but I noticed in the second half that the crowd was much more into it. We made 0 threes in the first half. And what, 5 threes in the second half? The crowd was trying to be loud in defense following each of those and the fast break lay up by Mays.

Agreed Bil. The in game shite could be better but you’re right I doubt shite on the video screen or the awful DJ would slow down Auburn’s crowd. Alabama even sons LSU

Yep. I know I hate winning and seeing a team score 80+ when I’m in the crowd....

Maybe a new facility would inject some enthusiasm with the fan base?

It’s just not consistently loud. Sure those 3s give it a pop and it gets loud for a bit but usually dies out quickly after

We flat-out sucked in every aspect in the 1st half. There was nothing to cheer about. With that said, our crowd is usually dead regardless. However, they came to life in the 2nd half and it sounded good on TV, so I'll take it.

Lack of 3s
Lack of dunks (NO alley oops)
Lack of steals and fast breaks
Lack of blocks
No lack of short 2s and fouls.
Yep, objectively this is boring for a non basketball fan, but it’s pretty amazing that we can win consistently without those pieces.
That being said, the crowd energy is not harmed, it’s prohibited. You gotta have some to start for it to be “hurt”.

The last time crowd energy was a factor was back in the Shaq days.

The old people hurt the crowd energy. They don’t stand or yell or clap or anything.... there are just pitiful
And they head for the exits when LSU is up by 6 with 1:00 left.
I don’t understand why they go to the games? If you aren’t going to cheer and urge your team on, what’s the point?

When Brady had his run with Stro and Jabari and then the run with Big Baby and Tyrus, it was rocking. I remember it being packed and loud as hell. I don't know what has happened and why it's so dead, but the student section was on the sidelines back then.

Crowd energy has to start with the students. It’s on them IMO.
