I am going to San Francisco for a wedding in August. The wife said I can get a round of golf in while we’re out there.
Where should I play? Willing to spend up to $500 a round(pebble)

You have your answer. Just drive two hours to Monterey before or after the wedding and spend a night or two there/Carmel. You can play pebble, drive the pacific coast highway and shop/eat around in carmel

I’m pretty sure you have to stay in the Lodge and also play another course to get on Pebble. You’re looking at $1500 all-in.

If you don’t have time for all that, I can’t recommend Pasatiempo enough. It’s not as far as Monterrey, and doesn’t have the Ocean, but it’s one of the best golf courses you’ll ever play. Designed by Allister Makense (Augusta National, Cypress Point, Crystal Downs). A few of the holes on the front play a little tighter than they originally did because of some development, but it’s otherwise incredible. Amazing greens and just a perfect piece of land. It’ll spoil you for great architecture.
