Watched it Thursday night and I concur. Great movie.

I absolutely loved this movie.
Actually, I don't think I've ever seen a Tom Hanks movie I didn't like.

I could have done without Julia Roberts, but other than that, I loved it. P S Hoffman was tremendous.

I agree Julia Roberts was nervy in this film.
All the southern high class socialite make-up
BUT in those days women wore make-up like that and had dogs escort them to their bedrooms to get laid.

By far one of my favorite actors ever.

It is based on true events is what made it so good, I think. I can see all of that going down in that time frame. Accept history just says Russia was defeated there because the terrain kicked their arse. NOT US! shhhhh!

I'll be sure to keep that on the DL.

Well the Ladykillers sucked balls, but other than that, you are right. Tom Hanks is one of hollywood's elite and he was awesome in Charlie Wilson's War. It is definitely one of the best movies of last year and that is saying a lot.

See - I don't think I've seen that one, so there you go.
Hanks, P S Hoffman and John C Reilly are definitely in my top 5 favorites in Hollywood.

I'm guessing you never saw Ladykillers or Joe and the Volcano.

I liked Joe versus the Volcano.
In Lady Killers, Hanks acting wasn't the problem. One of the few (if only) Coen Brother's flops. Typically, they tried to create a movie that was as much (if not more) about quirky characters than about story line - but this one just didn't work. If you watch this movie anyway (just because you're a Coen Brothers fan, or a Hanks fan) knowing ahead of time that the storyline just sucks, and many of the characters are flat out annoying - you may get a few hearty laughs from time to time.
BTW thanks for the reminder on Charlie Wilson's War. I just moved it to the top of my cue.

I saw this with a couple of girls who hate history and they hated it, but I LOVED it. One of my favorite movies of the last few years.

I thought it was a very solid film. I loved the scene where Hoffman's character was bitching out the FBI director for not giving him the job in Helsinki. "I've spent the last year learning FINNISH which will come in handy in VIRGINIA!"
