There's no doubt that Trump's rollback of enviro regs is going to lead to at least some negative enviro results. The question is, is it worth it. It might be. But we should at least be honest about the trade offs.

This was all done 3 years ago by Obama.

It was just a massive land grab by the federal government that was opposed by the Utah state government.

Prior to that, this land just existed like before.

The wording in that article is attempting to state that it is specifically being opened up for mining and ranching, when it actually is just giving the land back to the state.

It is a “worse case scenario” interpretation not grounded in facts.

There is nothing in there saying that there will be mining.

It is the “because it isn’t protected, they will mine there and the land will be destroyed” argument.

Sure you are vagina. I’m willing to bet you wouldn’t have the first clue how to use the tools needed for this even if you inclined to do it.

I believe a very large portion of Utah and surrounding States have almost as much Federal land as private, and you aint welcome to most of it.

From looking at a map Utah looks like it’s about 80% controlled federal land. I think the feds can spare a bit of it.

Th S land was "protected" just a few years ago. Before today, you most likely had never heard of it and have no intention of going.

Use a chainsaw. Unless you're good with an ax it'll take too long and you will just prolong the agony of the tree.
Be merciful.

I wandered around down there in my 4X4 a few years back.

There is a lot of wasteland that needs to be used.

The federal Bureau of Land Management released its plans Thursday to open up the lands to use by energy developers and ranchers.

Bears Ears, in particular, had drawn the ire of conservatives, who felt that Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, radically overreached and trampled on residents' rights when designating the massive monument late in his second term.

The OP makes some loud, panicky claims. The claims raise questions:
(A) How did "some of the most beautiful area of the country" go nearly a century protected?
(B) How do ranchers doing what they've done for 150 years now suddenly threaten "irreversible damage"?
(C) What kind of energy development is being considered -- solar or wind?
(D) Couldn't find mining referenced in the NPR piece at all. What kind of mining?

I mean, it states that Bear Ears was claimed by the federal government in 2017.

I remember that was an Obama thing to "save the planet."
