Why are Barre Chords so difficult for me?

I play 2 "2 finger" Barre Chords.B and Bb.

It looks effortless watching guitarist play them. And they sound better than open chords.

I've been at it 18 years.I gave up on Barre Chords long ago.

eta: Lanier, that's a great Song to play. That B7 Chord will come in handy in a lot of Songs that are in that same key.

It’s all about technique. Try this and see how it works for you. When you are fretting a barre chord, give your guitar some back pressure into your body using your forearm on your strumming hand. It relieves some of the force you’re using to hold the chord with your fretting hand because your forearm is acting as a lever to drive the neck into your fingers. With your fretting hand more relaxed because it’s not struggling to apply enough force to hold the chord, you’ll find it much easier to play. Takes a little practice but I promise you that once you get the technique down, you’ll be off and running.
