Except for the two Jesuit schools we let in, since they're too large for the private school associations but too small to really threaten any of the public schools)

Well, they are sort of part of state government. They are run by the University of Texas.

They were allowed in under a change in rules, where a private school can join only if none of the private school associations will take them (and only then if it is due to size; San Antonio Cornerstone Christian -- affiliated with John Hagee's outfit -- tried to get in claiming TAPPS wouldn't take them, but that was because TAPPS kicked them out for rules violations).
