LSU Bama Recruiting Comparisons last 10 years

I ran down another rabbit hole this morning and used the 247 recruiting rankings to put together a chart for LSU vs Bama.I found it interesting and decided to share. Link to 2020 recruiting rankins below.
247 2020 recuiting rankings
Graphic below show 2011-2020 recruiting ranking, obviously 2020 is written in clay, not stone at this point. Also commits do not necessarily equal enrollees for any particular year. I also took the average for that time period.
ETA: as some have pointed out, there is little difference in a 1-10 ranking in recruiting and almost none in 1-5. The eye catching thinkg to me is the numbers. LSU had more than 25 3 time 1-26, 2-27 but had 5 (I assume 1 more for 2020) less than 25 1-22, 2-23, 2-24. 246 total commits in that time period.
Alabama, on the other hand, had more than 25 6 times if all the commits sign this year (if they can, one is a soft commit) 4-26, 1-27, 1-9 but only had 2 less than 25 1-24 and 1-22. 256 commits in that time period.
That spells depth.

Draw a big circle around that 2018 class. When we drop a few games this season, that will be the answer.
There is not that much difference between #1 and #5. So if we end up top 5 in 2020 and 2021, I like our chances in the future.
Of course, a lot also depends on Coach O's upcoming hires.

How tf did they sign 29 in 2017 after signing 25 the class before? Was that before the rule change?

We have had a significant number of players from that class transfer already too:
Kelvin Joseph
Davin Cotton
Kenan Jones (although I believe he is coming back?)
Cole Smith
Dominic Livingston
Zach Sheffer
Tae Provens
Dantrieze Scott

Drop a "FEW" games. Are you an imbecile?

Don’t believe any of those besides Jones, Cotton and Joseph would have ever seen the field if were honest.

I’m not one of those guys that say recruiting rankings don’t matter, because they obviously do. But the difference between 1-10 is not that great. It’s more about getting players that stick around, fill your needs and fit your system.
The recruiting services are good at recognizing the 5 stars, which are elite and everyone can see it. They are horrible are ranking the mid level 3 stars and lower 4 stars.
Despite all those rankings, Alabama had some injuries this year and had no depth. Where did those great players go?

Explains why Bama looks human now. There’s a huuuuuuuge difference between A.) 5, 1, and 2 in the past 3 years and B.) being 1,1,1,1,1,1 and outscoring the next closest team by 15 points and pulling every major recruit that you target. Good to see their talent level “dropping off” by their 2010-2017 standard

The interesting thing is that year all 29 are listed as enrollees. That is actually what sent me down that hole.
I am a little confused by some of the numbers myself.

It’s also the class that brought us Burrow and Tracy.......how many wins have they accounted for?

I think that was time of the rule change and it's why they only signed 22 the next year plus they had to process to get to their 85
LSU also had more transfers than Bama which paid off with Fehoko, Moss, Giles, Alexander, Burrow, Tracy at positions of need

Will we ever see a #1 recruiting rank again???
I still think that our recruited players get downgraded in the rankings when they commit to LSU and not Bama.

Those may account for some of the "short" years, I guess.

With those Clemson rankings, are they having to do with Dabo undersigning a lot of those years but having some top flight talent? I didn't look at all those classes, but like in '18 where he had 5 5-stars & Justyn Ross & they finish 7th.

The ones still around stand to make a significant contribution this year and have made significant impact already:.
Chris Curry
Chasen Hines
Dare Rosenthal (will probably start next year)
Micah Baskerville
Damone Clark (how underrated was he?)
Nelson Jenkins
Oh yeah, and Terrace Marshall and Ja’Marr Chase
Some of them were vastly underrated. Trust in CEO.

The demise of 2018 has been greatly exaggerated.
