So, as best I could tell, from hearing on the radio, a smug reporter was pressing Pompeo on whether he "protected" his staff enough before luring him into the trap: "Did you protect Marie Yvonavitch enough?"

Pompeo said GTFO! Then apparently called her into an off the record convo and gave her the proverbial skull-fricking (presumably during an off the record interview), Well, she ignored her reporters creed, and tried to make a story out of her meltdown having to endure bad language.

Personally, I like it. And fuch poor, poor Marie.

CNN i think

It's nice to finally have an administration with some balls.

Yeah it’s that dumb bitch from NPR. She had her faux outrage and smugness on display talking about this. They would have never treated an Obama Secretary like this but think they are better/smarter than Trump’s cabinet

Good for Mike. Sounds like she got exactly what she needed. No apologies necessary Mike, don’t give into these sleazy sob’s.

He must be under a lot of stress. That's not gonna play very well, but that's OK. The media sucks arse and at the end of the day people will just let it wash away like they do everything else.

But frickin kudos to Pompeo! frick yeah. They need to just start kicking these frickers out of the press loop and give some smaller media companies the passes.

Yeah, I guess when it comes to protecting his ambassadors he could've just said, "at this point what difference does it make?"

We need to push this thing along to the point where we can just do something about the media. I still think that Pompeo could have handled it better, but what the CNN reporter was doing is dangerous. At some point they're gonna have to be held to account for undermining the government. They're not reporting news here, they're trying to create news.

Don't believe that. First, the lady was doing all she could to trigger Pompeo, the Secretary of State for crying out loud for whom she clearly lacks due respect as she should as a reporter, and sounds to me like Pompeo did a great job at restraint. He gave her a calm interview, but sure, she needed to be counseled about that. And Pompeo was good enough to not do it out in the open.

As far as her allegations of his tone and rhetoric, I believe half of what she said is made up, and the other half is greatly exaggerated and overstated.

What's really peculiar is her surprising admission that she was unaware that the behind closed doors chat was off the record. I have to assume she likely had a handheld voice recorder from what the initial interview sounded like, so believing she was still on the on the record but going behind closed doors for a curious meeting, hard to believe she wouldn't have discretely had the recorder on. But coincidentally we only have her word.

Tl;dr

Nothing in the interview that was “recorded” was improper BoarEd. CNN and NPR are giving their version of the account. Have we learned nothing about Fake News yet to suggest somehow their account of the “facts” may be accurate? Even if Pompeo dropped a few F-bombs and questioned her intelligence and asked her to point out Ukraine on a map, she obviously crossed a big redline with him for him to go off on her imo. IOW, she probably deserved it and only got the tip and not the full business she probably deserved.
