If it does. It’s not good news for the “lockdowns don’t work” crowd.
Its not that they don't "work." Its that they are a failed strategy with no end game. Sure, a lockdown will slow the spread of cases, maybe significantly. But no matter how long you lock down, the virus will be there waiting when you emerge. The only way a lockdown would make sense is if a readily available vaccine were right around the corner.
The lockdowns were a flawed strategy that accomplished nothing. Few want to hear this, but we need to let the virus burn through and carry on as best we can. It does seem that getting a significant percentage of the population with immunity helps.

Santiago, Chile has been on a total lockdown since the middle of May with a 85% decrease in movement. Before that they had been on an equal to US shutdown since March 13. Santiago with 7 million people has had more confirmed cases than any city in the world everyday for the last 2 weeks. There is nothing that can be done outside of Vaccine and effective medicines. The idea that a lockdown works come from China and everyone knows they lied. Cases go down as herd immunity develops.
