Yea, I don't see the connection to Cooper. You either take him or you don't. Has nothing to do with Cooper.

And if Wade is willing to take a flier on players like Deshawn Thomas, then giving Shareef a chance is a no-brainer.

The issue is that we're working on Wilkinson, who Billy Embody just CB'ed to LSU, and Anselem, who looks like he very well could be ours as soon as he reclassified which he seems certain to do.

Both of them are players rated similarly to O'Neal, and both would be available to play in Game 1 next year in your frontcourt.

If you take both of those guys, you are then one over the limit for next year. You also are sitting on eight frontcourt players and six guards, which is a little bit paint-heavy.

Assumedly that thins out with Emmitt or Watford or both leaving, so maybe you could have a scholarship for O'Neal while still keeping Cooper. Except I would think you might like to find another guard as well.

Cooper is the last scholarship guy on the bench. We have no size, he has size and yet he's still not playing, which is a good indication Wade doesn't see him being a contributor. Seems like O'Neal would have to get his scholarship if he came since he'd be sitting out all of next year.
