It shouldn't, but the reality is that is does for many couples. And often times it just happens without either partner really realizing it. You wake up one day and realize it's been two months since you were last intimate. The wife and I went through it after our second kid. It's not always a sign of a failing marriage, but it can lead to problems if resentment is built up and never addressed.
