We studied Aldi when I was in my MBA program at Emory. We actually visited a store and bought 10 of their store brand items to compare to the name brand counterpart. We set up a blind tasting and the Aldi brand was favored by the class almost every time.

It was certainly surprising.

I used to be impressed with their produce but quality has dropped drastically the past couple years. I no longer go to Aldi.

I wouldn't want to do all my shopping there but they have great prices on essentials like butter, cheese, milk etc

Aldi, like Trader Joes/Lidl/and even to an extant, Whole Foods these days, is a store that you can't do all your shopping at.

But if looking for a few bargains, it's a decent enough choice if it's close by. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop there.

I like Trader Joe's for a few things, but their offerings aren't really aimed at folks trying to stay on a relatively low carb diet. Their riced cauliflower is the best I've tried though.

What does this mean? They don't have a butcher on site which bothers me, but aside from that I think they have the same options as almost every other store.

What kind of low carb diet items can you not get at a TJs? I haven't been to many of them so I actually am asking this honestly and not as a dig to you

I go to Aldi's in Dallas.
You have got to get used to what items that you like are there ... YOU WILL NOT be able to get all your groceries there, but there are very good values.
I like their wines for "everyday" type. Also, their "special buys on "non food" items can offer nice items.

Up here in TN, the Aldis are pretty nice and a good source of cheap produce.
