The Chiefs backed into a bye then homefield. Saints got their bye jacked by the sorry arse Packers after working so hard to put themselves in position to get it only to fall an inch and fricking Blough short. You get either bye and who knows maybe the Saints are heading to the Super Bowl. That's why byes are important and it doesn't hurt when the main competition chokes early and you get the Texans and Titans as your opponents either. As soon as the Saints lost out and had to play wildcard weekend with a 13-3 record I knew they would come out flat. And had the 49ers not lucked out against Seattle week 17 we not even talking about them and a Super Bowl. That's how fine the line was when it came to how important seeding was. Different matchups create different outcomes.

49ers-Chiefs will mark the seventh straight Super Bowl that both teams were a top two seed in their conference

Still no excuse for losing to the Vikings
