Sometimes you just have to be grateful for what we’ve done

It’s been 50 years since the Chiefs last went to the Super Bowl. People have been born and died within that rage never seeing their team win it all. We are extremely lucky to have seen our Saints not only get to one, but win it. It’s so rare.
And while it’s disappointing we have had good teams and can’t seem to get over the hump lately, to be able to sit back and say “we actually did it” still makes me satisfied as a fan.

When any objective observer analyzes the history of every component part of the New Orleans Saints franchise, he reaches the conclusion that the Saints were fortunate to have even one Superbowl Lombardi Trophy.
Why? Because this franchise has never had superlative and championship-sustaining talent, work-product, continuity and stability within ALL components of an NFL franchise. The components are not limited to these: front office, general manager, owner, head coach, player-personnel acquisition and disposition, coordinator of offense, coordinator of defense, strength and conditioning.
These are all very important component parts. It is arguable that the Saints have NEVER, even for one single season, have achieved superlative work product from ALL of these component parts of the franchise.
That's why the 2009 Championship season is so special.

After this year 12 of the 32 teams will have won a Super Bowl since 2000, with another 7 different ones making an appearance.
It's not that rare.
