People don’t understand what it means to “attend”

quote:

However, Nagy goes on to say that Zac Taylor and the Bengals have actively been recruiting Burrow to attend the Senior Bowl stating, “They just want to get Joe here and spend the week with him.” Adding, ” a point they made to the Burrows is that they want Joe to get a feel for them and what their organization is about.” You would assume “they” refers not only to Coach Taylor, but to Duke Tobin and the Brown family as well.

They want a week to practice with him - playing is irrelevant here.

Baker Mayfield went a couple years ago for the practices and whatnot, think he might have even played for a bit.
He had a mother in the hospital so he played a drive or two and then left the stadium.

Some analysts are suggesting if Burrow doesn't attend, he may be planning to pull an Eli and sit out the entire season
clearly, you need to stop listening to those analysts. they're retarded. No body plays in the Senior bowl except people who aren't likely to be drafted or need to prove their worth. You don't risk 10s of millions of dollars for a tryout exhibition game.

Rashaad Penny played and got draft in the first. D.J. Chark went and got drafted in the second. Tre’Quan Smith and the third.

This ain’t the East-West Shrine Bowl.

He's the guaranteed number 1 pick. There's no incentive to go whatsoever considering he has torn rib cartilage. Show up to talk with the organization if they like, but no reason to try out essentially. He's the top pick and if they don't pick him, they'll be crucified by the media.

They're not passing on the local boy Heisman winning National Champion.

I mean this with the greatest respect for Foster Moreau but the Senior bowl is for prospects like him. Go show you belong and possibly raise your stock. Head coach or not, Burrow has absolutely zero reason to be at the Senior bowl. He would actually take some shine away from prospects that need it for their future.

Dude you keep trying to make your point. No qb going top 5 guaranteed should be playing in the senior bowl. It’s not a smart business decision. He might practice or just hang out and meet the bengals coaches but he’s not playing. That’s ridiculous. We’re not talking about even the first round. We are talking about top 5 and most likely 1.

Burrow will probably let his ribs heal up.

Baker Mayfield literally just did it two years ago. Again, he can attend and go to the practices regardless of whether he enters the game.

That’s the entire thrust of what the rumor mill is about. Is he going to show up and work with Zac Taylor or not? I don’t think anyone expects him to be out slinging it.

I doubt anyone that’s handling the business side of his future will advise him to play in that game. He probably won’t work out at the combine either even as a limited participant.

How much higher can he raise his draft stock with him being a lock for #1? There’s no reason to go from a business perspective. His tape this year speaks for itself.

Fulton isn’t the top corner hands down so that’s why he’s going
Baker and Jones weren’t the locked in top pick like Burrow is right now
And Jalen hurts is a day 2 prospect so of course he’s going

God damn I really hope Joe doesn't end up in Cinci. Brown is one of the worst owners in sports.

I wouldn’t do anything extra to impress Cincy. I wouldn’t point blank refuse to play for them but I would show zero enthusiasm during interviews or contact. Hopefully that would be enough for them to not draft Joe. If they draft him anyway then give 110%, at least he tried to dissuade them. It’s highly possible though he wants to go to Cincy being an Ohio kid.

Burrow shouldn't pick up a football again until minicamp in the Cincy.

Playing and attending aren’t the same thing. He can go, attend practices, get a fee for the coaching staff and then not play.

A lot of top of the first QBs have done that. Especially if it’s the coach that will most likely draft you, why wouldn’t you?
