We all know about their weak schedule, so rewatched this game against a quality team to learn more about Clemson. Two take aways about them - they are agressive and resilient. Their aggressive style on D causes hit or miss plays. They either make big plays or give them up. Venables rushes a lot of diff guys. Joe and our O should win more of those plays than we lose, but Clemson will win some of those.

They are agressive less often on offense but definitely take their shots. They threw the ball downfield but Ohio State's defense won more of those plays. But those plays openned up the screens to Etienne, as well as the QB runs by Lawrence. Both those guys played like champions. They have a couple of good receivers but Etienne and Lawrence have to make clutch plays for them to beat us. Ohio State repeatedly out played Clemson for large chunks of the game and then one of those 2 guys made a clutch play to keep Clemson in the game. Clemson got some "lucky" breaks in this game, but good teams consistently get lucky breaks.

They have been in the championship game 4 of the past 5 years, and have a ton of guys on this year's team that won it last year. I think we win, but they will go down battling like a champion. They lose to the new champion, though.

i think that when the going gets tough the home crowd will be a big difference.

such a solid advantage for the good guys.

If Clemson comes down to NOLA and beats this team full of studs in their back yard then they earned a NC and you have to tip your caps to them. That team needs to be talked about as a top 10 team of all time.

on the flip side if LSU can go through this game and impose their will on Clemson as they have all year to the teams they have left in their wake with the added pressure of doing it in LA hanging over them. Then it is a well deserved championship and this team needs to be talked about as a top 10 team of all time.

The problem there is that when you miss against Burrow, you usually play the ultimate price and the math starts to get out of hand.

Should be a fabulous game. Can't wait.

Yeah but I think the LSU Oline picks up a lot of the things Ohio missed. And Burrow gets out of a lot more of the tricky situations. I wasn't too impressed with the defense honestly.

I wasn’t impressed with Clemson either. They really weren’t in that game. Ohio State and the poor officiating gave Clemson that game. Similar to last year against Bama. That game was about to get out of hand early before some lucky breaks and an inexperienced Tua started floundering.

I disagree with this. Everyone said the same thing about Bama in 2012, and the Dome was about 55% to 45% LSU - no advantage at all.

Clemson won’t have as many as Bama had, because they are a smaller fanbase and farther away, but they will have close to 25,000, and we might have 45,000. We’ll have more, but they’ll have enough to sound like a home crowd in a dome. Minor advantage for LSU.

But you’ve got to try something.

Every good team has an outstanding offensive player or two...we just can't let those players beat you.

Honestly, that's the key to beat Burrow&co...full speed CHASE for turnovers...
Clemson is good at it, and they are +16 in the TO battle

I hate playing against good QBs with moxie. Lawrence has it. Ohio State is a really good team, but Fields doesn't worry me as much as Lawrence. Sure glad we got Burrow!!!!

Everyone talks about how Clemson was lucky that Dobbins was injured, but no one even mentions that Clemson lost their best receiver on the first drive and the 2nd best receiver was in and out of the game fighting off a nagging injury. The OSU defense did affect the Clemson offense alot, but Clemson wasn't anywhere near full speed either.

Your analysis was spot on, just don't underestimate how important the loss of Higgins was to the offense. Higgins and Ross put a ton of pressure on the opposing defense and that opens up plays for the rest of the receivers. Without Higgins and Ross the Clemson offense is infinitely easier to defend.

It comes down to one thing. Can Clemson get stops early. If we jump out to a 17 point lead or more, it’s pretty much over for them. They must keep it close in the first half to stand any chance of winning.

If this game is close, then turnover battle likely decides it. +16 is impressive but is partially due to the style of play that Venables coaches along with how good Lawrence is at not throwing picks, at least for 2nd half of the season. Some of that is also related to their weak schedule at least on offense. Lawrence can limit to safer throws when up by 20 or more.

As far as Burrow and picks, Joe is pretty accurate but does make some throws each game that count on our receivers to battle the DB for the ball. He plays with a lot of confidence in our receivers to do that and they have come thru all year. Joe is fearless in his style of play. Clemson has several good DBs, but are not better than the better defenses we have beat this year. Florida, Bama, and Georgia all had NFLers back there that couldn't stop us and neither will Clemson.
