We used to swim in the bayou when I was a kid in the 80s. I wouldn't want my boys swimming in there today.
I remember as a kid, I was swimming in the bayou and it suddenly hit me "what about the snakes?!" My uncle told me don't worry about the snakes, the gators scare them away. And I was fine with that.

Don’t think about them snakes. Gotta keep moving or the brim will bite your freckles off.
