Location was NOLA. 1959 Sugar Bowl. Great Runner completes 9 yd. pass for TD (Billy Cannon to Mickey Mangham late in 3rd. qtr. for only score of game. Final--Tigers 7 & Tigers 0...

LSU was already crowned the national champs before playing Clemson

I know that, but if you check there was one final poll...
OR, Were you just trying to be a "party pooper" ?
Also, some media outlets felt that LSU needed to win to be a legitimate Nat'l. Champ. (see below):

Clemson head coach Frank Howard stands with members of his team during practice for the 1959 Sugar Bowl. The 12th ranked Clemson Tigers played top ranked LSU in the 1959 Sugar Bowl on January, 1, 1959 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. LSU won the game 7-0 to claim their first national championship.

How could it be "HISTORY" if it hasn't happened yet ?

I’m saying your original post is incorrect, LSUhas never played Clemson to determine a national Championship.

This is not a correct statement.

Me - I was in my Junior year at LSU - the Chinese Bandits were my favorite group in that glorious era.

I remember the Clemson coach (Frank Howard?????) dismissed the Bandits in the week prior to the game in an interview === He said "we'll just wait til they put their 3rd string in the game and blah blah blah . . ."

Really pissed me off - and the Bandits as well.

Loved that team -

Misleading statement, well ok. There was no Champ. game at that time. Clemson was rated #11 or # 12.
Last AP poll ? ,ok, If you were around then, you know there were lesser known polls. Tiger Fans should not tout the AP Poll, the same poll that voted USC Nat'l. Champs the same year that Nick Saban led LSU to the Nat'l. Champ..
Calm down & root for Jeaux Burreaux...

I'll be rooting for Joe. I always root for LSU. That doesn't mean I want people to promulgate false or innacurate statements. We should leave that to the Gumps.

And, yes there were lesser polls. The NCAA recognises 3 polls that year. The UPI(Coaches Poll), AP, and the FWAA. The FWAA inexplicably selected 8-1-1 Iowa as the champ.

The AP and Coaches poll have always been the go to polls prior to the BCS then the CFP Championship. And there was always controversy. In 2003 the AP decided to "flex their muscles" so to speak and not follow the lead of the BCS and put the winner of the champioship game at #1. This was due to the fact that the BCS put Oklahoma in the championship game despite the fact that USC & LSU were both 1&2 in the AP and Coaches poll.

Look, you are clearly a Tiger fan and I applaud you enthusiasm. But trying to draw some sort of parralells between this season and 1958 are just not accurate.

Also, that halfback pass was a thing of beauty.
