I honestly believe that you should start with a good microphone. They have cheap starter mics such as the Samson Q2U, or the Rode Procaster. I use Rode products for film-making and I love their products.
Bad sound quality has completely taken me our of a podcast. Also look into a sound mixer and editing software.

This is the type of info I am looking for. Thanks.

I've come across a few podcast that seemed interesting, but then when I start listening I couldn't handle it for more than a half of min.

Is there certain factors in a room you do it in play a factor in the sound? Obviously you don't want to do it somewhere where it echos..
