They found one rape kit dating back to 1985 that hadn't been put in.

4000 kits
500 tested
182 results back
52 hits on criminals
23 possible serial rapists

This is just in Jefferson Co Al and there are only 32 agencies across the country participating in this. All agencies suck so much arse, they don't give two shits about citizens, only writing fines.

quote:

SAKI stands for Sexual Assault Kit Initiative which is designed to end the backlog of testing rape kits and put systems in place so it does not happen again.

Across Jefferson County 4,000 kits were found in police departments. So far 500 kits have now been tested with results back on 182. Of those 52 had hits meaning the evidence can be tied to another crime or a DNA match to a known individual.

Government is only as good as the people who elect it and hold it accountable.

If we fail as citizens to hold them accountable it is on us

Not everyone in government is elected.

I agree to an extent, but they know that they have made "holding them accountable" such a time consuming maze that the people that have jobs and have lives and interests, don't have the time, money and energy to climb those walls.

The question really is..why haven't they corrected themselves? Remember they are "public servants"

Am I reading this correctly? They've only even attempted to test 1 out of every 8 rape kits?

That is high minded but bullshite because:

A) half the time or more I have no choice because the only choices are a democrat or a rino

B) as if there aren’t enough stupid people here already the democrats are doing everything possible to flood us with more and the rinos want to do it marginally slower

I haven’t failed shite, I am awash in stupidity

Sounds about right.

Solving crimes costs money rather than bringing in money for the municipality. Doing those tests costs X amount in actual dollars and Y amount in lab time to result in Z amount of hours of police work in n solving cases.

Rather than take out 1-2 serial rapiers who are creating a one man crime wave, they would rather pretend everything is fine and they are OK with how events are unfolding.

Last week Congressman Robert Adderholt announced $102 million in additional funding to help clear the backlog

Something sounds suspicious about that number

Is that statewide? Or is that just to clear up the 3,500?

Because if so that's just shy of $30,000 per kit which doesn't even sound remotely believable

So much failure in JeffCo. You be hard pressed to find any competent gov office or official there.

So I guess the next practical question is where is the real bottleneck?

They'll need 20 million to assemble a team to generate a report on the problem.

I worked for a government agency once. By day three on the job I was able to spot major problems that were making the agency completely ineffective.

By day 4, I knew that what I suspected was correct- no one gave a shite. You could stay as long as you wanted as long as you did not rock the boat.

Socialism sucks.

Exactly! Money never stops coming in benefits are great, and raises and vacations grow every year. Almost impossible to get fired and less accountability for production. It’s all a farce.

Government sucks completely

So we bust all these rapists, what’s anyone gonna do about it? Jails already overstuffed.

The older I get, the closer I get towards near anarchy. Government hardly ever does anything right, and they waste a bunch of money in the process. Just worry about yourself and your family, protect yourself with whatever weapons you deem necessary, do whatever you want with your life, your money, and smoke or inject whatever you want as long as you don’t hurt others. The people, if given a chance, would do a far better job of governing themselves than the government itself.

Government is the most inefficient type of organization. That's why few powers should be held by the largest government.

Maybe just maybe the types of people in the Jefferson Co government have something to do with that. I don’t see this phenomenon occurring in Vermont.
