The college thread got me thinking - who is the best NFL player of the 2010s?

Rodgers and Brady won 2 MVPs each, but no one won more than 1 AP OPOY award. Drew's body of work speaks for itself too.

JJ Watt sticks out on defense and I think has a great case tbh. 3 DPOY awards is stout. He's been 1st team All Pro in 5 of the 6 years he was healthy. Leads the league in TFL since 2010 by more than 10% despite only playing in 112 of 159 possible games. #2 in sacks.

Julio Jones has a commanding lead in yards but his TDs are lacking. Megatron is #7 in yards and #8 in TDs despite only playing 60% of the decade.

Gronk?

Tom Brady.

He has two league MVPs this decade, two Super Bowl MVPs, and three Super Bowl titles under his belt.

Start your own thread for team of the decade.

A guy like JJ Watt is more dominant at his position than Brady's been at his. The idea that it's not close is ridiculous.

In 10 years, the casual fan won't even know who JJ Watt is. You can't say the same thing about Tom Brady.

Oof. Should’ve stuck with your statistics based argument

Was JJ's peak better than Aaron Donalds? I think JJ's stats are better but it felt Aaron Donald had a pressure every single play.

Is this a discussion about fame or about who is the best player?

Do you rank all movies by their box office sales or do you actually have the cognitive ability to form an opinion that isn't spoon fed to you?

If “the casual fan” doesn’t know who J.J. Watt is then, then they absolutely are no casual fan.

The casual fan doesn’t know who Bruce Smith is?

Because that’s essentially JJ Watt’s floor in terms of greatness right now.

JJ was very dominant for 3.5 years, but he's been hampered by injuries. And one of those dominant years was wasted on a Texans team that went 2-14 and he was seemingly the only player on the field that gave a crap at times.

Too many other players (including the obvious choice of Brady) were consistently great over the entire decade.

Lawrence Taylor vs. Montana in the 80s is probably a better debate.
