I can't find data to answer this, I only see that 32-40% of women with college degrees choose not to work for a living.

quote:

Hersch’s research finds that 60 percent of female graduates from elite colleges are working full time compared to 68 percent of women from other schools.

quote:

Hersch gathered her data from the 2003 National Survey of College Graduates, which provided detailed information for more than 100,000 college graduates. The survey was conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau for the National Science Foundation

Presumably females from elite colleges marry men with better prospects and dont have to work unless they want to.

ETA I know it doesnt fit the modern narrative, but many/most people still live a fairly traditional lifestyle, even graduates of elite colleges.

I did it for 2 months while between jobs.

It is definitely not awesome. It was fun at times being home with the kids, but it was pretty demanding.

My brother floated this idea. His wife put the kibosh on it with the quickness.

I would be perfectly fine being a househusband. I could fish or hunt all day then chop wood and build fires to cook the meats over. You know manly things. I ain't bein no stay at home dad though, screw raising a child. I can pay people to do that.

Stay at home dad possibly, but being a house husband is terrible.

Knew a girl that graduated with a Doctorate in Nuclear Engineer but that was so she can find a man in the same field and not work. Using her degree and experience as backup.

They got married. Had kids. And are taking care of them.

Are you really suggesting you want men to stay home and take care of the kids??

Then what they do all day after the kids start school?

Maybe women with good degrees have less to prove.

Maybe they have less debt.

Maybe they married well.

Just a thought.

Growing up, my dad had a friend that was a kept man. His wife a doctor, and he didn't work. It was a very odd thing to see in the 80's.

He played golf nearly every morning, but was home every afternoon to cook dinner and do household chores. Seemed like a pretty good set up until he started banging other women and she kicked him out.
