Rebecca Christmason has it all. Her fiancee is a wealthy aspiring politician, she has made partner at a high powered law firm, and her top floor apartment has a killer view overlooking Central Park. She has everything she has ever wanted and more.

But when she visits home in Vermont for the first time in 10 years after the passing of her father she learns her family Christmas tree farm is about to be taken over by developers who want to turn her sleepy idyllic hometown into a commercialized ski resort and that the Pioneer Inn where her parents met will be demolished for a parking lot.

Along the way runs into old high school flame John McStrong who whittles Christmas ornaments from wood donated from the farm. They planned a life together once but that all changed when he couldn't leave Merryville to take a job in the city b/c his mother fell ill. Her mistake prone little brother runs the farm but isn't cut out to be a business man and is always losing money on well meaning schemes meant to help the local populace.

Will she push her brother to sell the family farm to the developers so she can return to her life in NYC or will she fall back in love with McStrong and return to one place she swore she would never return to?
