Note to Scott... Hell yes, Joe Burrow is better than you got or will ever have!

So glad that you were so short sighted and arrogant to pass on the opportunity to recruit Joe.

Enjoy that 5-7 record and the many more like it to follow.

But wasn’t he the coach when burrow announced he was transferring?

Eta: I thought I remember hearing that Nebraska turned burrow down twice: once in 2015 out of HS and again in 2018 when he decided to transfer.

Frost said that when Joe was deciding on transferring. Joe is a life long Nebraska fan and very well could have went there if Frost really pursued him.

Rah, it was a dumb decision.

I don’t think any of us should take it personally, though.

Wasn’t Frost more of a running qb? I do t remember him passing the way Burrow does. Probably why he passed on Burrow.

Frost was also the coordinator at Oregon. HIs offense at UCF was dynamic with a lot of passing. FWIW, he inherited a program that sucked. He could use anything that would help him.

I don’t blame Frost as much as Pelini and his staff.

Frost had just locked up Nebraska’s biggest recruit in decades at QB in his first class when Joe announced his transfer. I can see not wanting to start things off on the wrong foot by bringing in another guy right after spring. Not saying it was the right move but I can at least see the logic trying to show faith in the guys on your locker room and first class.

But Pelini and his staff (I think they were criminally under appreciated in Lincoln btw) had a freaking three time legacy that won Mr Football of Ohio and had a scholarship from Meyer and Herman at OSU and he didn’t even offer him.

Absolute negligence on his part and worthy of his firing even if his record wasn’t.

I don't take it personally. Frost was one of many who passed on Joe from his high school days up to his transfer. He is probably one of the many who Joe mentions as folks who doubted him and that contribute to Joe's motivation.

Pelini wasn't the coach back then.

Yes he was. He was fired before Signing Day but he was the coach during Joe’s initial recruitment.

i mean Joe has less than 40 career pass attempts at the time.
Let’s not act like it was a no brainer that THIS was coming from the kid.

Yeah....... but, LSU had just recently signed Myles Brennan. He was the obvious Heir Apparent. There were people (quite a few too actually on this & all LSU boards) that thought bringing in Burrow was rocking the boat & not putting the guys in the locker room first.

Remember....... LSU had, not one, but two, QB’s immediately transfer in the summer of 2018 after Burrow’s arrival, leaving us extremely thin at QB. We played the entire 2018 season with only 2 scholarship QB’s on the roster.

Coach O, thankfully, DID take a chance with Joe. Bringing Joe in, DID create short term problems. Coach O had enough foresight and faith in Joe that other coaches, like Frost didn’t.

Unless he wins a Natty that dumb comment will be what he's known for the rest of his career.

Everyone knew Brennan was at least a year or two away if nothing else due strictly to his weight.

He wasn’t even going to start over McMillan.

O was also in a different boat. Everyone loved the Frost hire. He was an alum. O had a lot of people to win over and was already coming off of a disappointing first year.

He had to make a move and luckily he understood that and followed through but no one really thought bringing in an Urban Meyer QB was a risky move for an LSU program that desperately needed help at that position.

Bill Busch thought it was a no-brainer. Busch told O. O said, "Go get him!"

Wasn't this on Bo Pelini or Mike Riley?

ETA: And pretty much every single program, except for Ohio State (which is very unusual considering how elite of a program they are), missed out on Joe. Nebraska just happened to really miss out on him, as he grew up on the Cornhusker practice field, and was essentially a 100% lock.
