he served before going to the NBA even though he was largely disqualified because of his height. Not a great example.
I know this.

I'm merely pointing out that the fact he was Navy was NEVER forgotten.

Hence, the PR benefit.

But hey. I get it. This thread is full of lefties who would almost certainly have agreed with me friggin 4 years ago on this but can't now, because Trump.

I'd just like to point out, the military does similar things already.

I helped a kid drop 2 years off his enlistment because he was accepted to Pre-Med.

The military often does things that account for special situations.

We aren't gonna suddenly see 9 people drafted in 2022 from Army.

When Robinson was there it was a topic of discussion. Many people thought it was time to address the situation. Hell the Admiral did stuff for the Navy in the off season iirc.

This is virtually a certainty. From my previously posted link:

The Obama administration previously put a policy in place allowing some athletes to go to the pros and defer their military service. That policy allowed Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds to be drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2016 draft after completing a four-year run with the Midshipmen. But the year after he went pro, the Defense Department rescinded the policy.

Well David Robinson joined the academy because he wanted to serve. He donated a ton of money to his community.
