I can make it from Shreveport to Baton Rouge in 3.5 hours but it takes me another 2.5 hours to get from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. Y’all south Louisiana baws need to get your shite together.
Build the loop
Build the loop

I assume you mean being stuck in traffic in BR. If not, then this is not remotely true.

Don’t go through Baton Rouge.

That’s your fault for thinking that the smartest route from Shreveport to NOLA was through Baton Rouge. You should have went to 55

I’m never trusting Waze again dude. I’ve been sitting in traffic for 1.5 hours trying to get into the chocolate city

BR rush hour traffic is often a cluster frick, especially on the interstate. On Fridays it's a cluster frick all day long.

You’re better off looping all the way around through Mississippi than going through BR

Seriously, what is the traffic problem? A city the size of Baton Rouge shouldn't have chronic traffic issues.
Is it too many wetlands and environmental reasons to not have more interstates, or politics?

The city is bordered by the Mississippi River to the west and one of the busiest interstates in the South, (I-10) which runs from Jacksonville to Los Angeles, that funnels all of its traffic right through the middle of the city.
It goes down to one lane coming across the Mississippi and it costs close to a billion dollars to build another bridge across it, not to mention the infrastructure and land costs needed to build the other road infrastructure and acquire the land to connect it somewhere else.
And this is a federal interstate Hwy so it is not all a local taxpayer issue. It affects regional traffic from Houston, New Orleans and all over the Gulf Coast.

I still don’t understand why they can’t widen the bridge where you cross into BR.
That neighborhood is nothing but blight. Tear it down.

You could also use the Southern loop.
I49 and US 90.
You may have a few stop lights, but it is easier than sitting in BTR traffic.

It's because auto insurance rates are high. If it were cheaper it would only take thirty minutes from BR to NOLA.

I will never understand why people go through BR vs taking this route.

There's no traffic in Shreveport because nobody wants to live there.
