Keep in mind also media doesn’t always have the same cameras as review crew
The state championship needs to be played by the same rules as every other game
this And just like other levels replay is full of holes and rarely has the same view and angle as the covering official. Add to that announcers that don’t know the rules choking in and rilling fans up
Would have been epic to see a fair catch kick in 4a game. Comical how many don’t even know that rule -

The NFHS change in the rule last year only allows instant replay review in the postseason.
I agree with you. .

Here’s my question. You say uncatchable is not a factor in HS PI. If a ball is uncatchable, wouldn’t a zebra just not throw a flag? You can’t say anything is a factor in a no-call
Under NFHS mechanics and rules if a pass is thrown and there is interference it is a foul - nothing more nothing less. - but I have seen pseveral instances where officials have incorrectly signaled uncatchable - just like I’ve seen them give safeties it TDS when muffed scrimmage kicks go into end zone - in most cases when crew confers they get it right PI or touchback in the latter
Heck I heard a radio guy that is a current head coach. Whining about why a personal foul was not an automatic first down..... only roughing passer, kicker , holder or snapper is in NFHS

So what level do U officiate? Mr expert
NONE. That doesn't invalidate the obvious fact that HS refs are bad.

Was stopped in the endzone two straight plays

Probably the goofiest rule is that on a missed field goal spotted beyond the 20, the offense starts on the 20 regardless.

Right. His entire body (ball tucked in tight) was in the endzone when his knee hit the ground on first down. They went with the call on the field (unlike the TD the play prior) because it was inconclusive. Doesn't change the fact that he didn't make it out of the endzone.

If it reaches the end zone it’s a touchback.

Do u know the officials mechanic on that?
I haven’t looked at all the HUDL yet but will
1. Fwd progesss comes into play
2. Something else comes into play - more on that later

So if a missed FG is downed between the 19 and the 1 yard line, it’s spotted there?

Yes. WM used field goals as punts for an entire season once.

quote:dunno.. but i have seen several teams tell their kicker when they were kicking off on short fields(after penalty enforcements) to practice for a fair catch kick and try to put it through the uprights. I've also heard an entire coaching staff yelling at a kid with almost no time left to fair catch it and they just look back at their coaches like they are nuts... - guess the kids don't know that rule - being a free kick - the kicker can get a running start to not the normal short step like a PAT or FG - so their range is much greater.

or not having kept the experimental intentional grounding exceptions just like college.
I like our rule on targeting and enforcement better... only a DQ if flagrant - but in college - the number of targets did not go down with just the penalty.. DQ made it go down. NFHS... penalties made it go down. DQs did made "flagrant" PF hits go down though.
