He was a pretty damn good play-caller working with what are limited QBs (Wimbush and Book).

His offenses did tend to sputter against elite defenses, but I’m not sure how much if that is on him vs. Kelly.

I think Long wants to move on. He wanted to be Bama's OC and might have gotten the job if Sark didn't become available.

I think Book is a very solid QB that was just a tad too careless in the red zone. With the right QB coach he could have been special (I thought he was better than Burrow last season and expected him to make the same kind of leap this season, which obviously was far from what actually happened).

I think a lot of it is on BK. It hasn't mattered who the OC was during his tenure, the offense always had a tendency to go away from what was working, or just stall for a few drives for no reason (big example being the first half of USC in 2018). There wasn't nearly the weapons available this year as the past couple of years, and too improve statistically, especially with the UGA and Michigan games included, says a lot about Long's ability as an OC.
