The most important coach on our staff

is Ed Orgeron. We all had some level of doubt when he was hired, that he could take us to the place we are now. He has and his expectations have/will change accordingly.
To his credit, he will now be dealing with assts. leaving/rumored to leave on a yearly basis. He will have to be the conduit for the offensive/defensive philosophies when replacing coordinators. He will be the reason for continued success moreso than his hi-dollar coordinators, going forward. This evolution has worked better than anyone could've imagined. Has has quickly garnered the respect of the national media and other coaches. This is huge!
Ed is VERY well connected...probably the most connected we've ever had. He's connected to Pro/college coaching giants and will be able to get hi-level candidates for any staff position. The other key attribute he has is that he's a real leader. People genuinely like/respect him and want to work with him. This can't be overstated.
I think our coach has done a great job of quickly building a foundation that will keep us in the forefront of college football for years to come!

aranda and Brady are still most important... my biggest concern is having someone ready for when brady leaves to run that same offense...hell id hire some young guy to soak up everything he knows like a sponge..

I find it fascinating that the beginning of the modern era of Ed Orgeron followed that humiliating defeat vs Troy. During the week that followed, I remember there was lots of infighting amongst the football coaching staff.
They say the darkest hour is just before the dawn. With LSU football, the darkest hour was the loss to Troy. Since then, you've seen a cohesive organisation with a real sense of purpose and direction.

Man when we hired O I wanted him to succeed because of how great of a story it would be. But I had big time concerns with could he do it. Man he has showed us all he was ready.
With that being said I agree with your post and still can't believe I'm saying that as I type it, lol

I understand your reasoning here. I think that if we are going to stay in the upper eschelon(which I believe we will) of CFB, Orgeron has to have the ability to hire coaches that have a record of installing similar O/D philosophies and he has to be able to teach the parts he wants carried over from past coordinators. I believe he will be able to do it at a high level.

Trust me, I didn't like it AT ALL! I'll freely admit, I wanted Herman because he was the "sexy" pick. This "HC-lite" approach seemed like desperation at the time. I think Alleva just got bald-faced lucky on this and will never give him the credit. Kudos for Ed for understanding his situation and grabbing hold with both hands!
He HAS to be "the guy" on our staff now. He has unparalleled connection to LSU and will be seen as the pillar of the program going forward. Recruits won't worry about him bolting for another job and this will transcend assts. coming/going. I still think coordinators are very important but Ed will minimize what, up til this point, seemed to be the only paradigm he had to be successful.

It's kinda funny how closely his first full season mirrors saban's first full season at bama. Lose to a G5 team and beats some teams everyone thinks you are going to lose to.
