LSU could pay him $3-3.25 million plus incentives as they are set up to be able to pay the most in the NCAA for coordinators.

“Aranda isn’t leaving.”

You don’t know whether he would or not.

Why would he leave for anything other than a head coaching job? He has a dream job coaching elite players against ACC offenses

Yeah that's going to go over well.

"He allowed a first down! This is what we get for $3m a year?"

The whole premise of the way we hired coach O was to allow us to do just that if necessary. It’s worked so far. Isn’t Aranda sitting around $2.8?

The names I’m seeing thrown around are worse than Aranda. Why should you be willing to take a step backward?

$2.5M. Throw in a $1M-$1.5M raise for Brady. O will likely get a hefty raise after the season. No way we pay a DC $3M. We don't have unlimited funds like aTm and Texas.

Not even remotely the same. Everyone knew Aranda had higher aspirations and was leaving eventually, Venables is happy where he is.

Doesn’t TAF have the means to pitch in if they really want someone?

Seriously, how the hell are Aranda and all of these other assistant coaches getting HC interest, while the best DC in the country is untouchable?

I really don't understand how Venables isn't a head coach already. Surely he's gotten some amazing offers in the last few years.

Yes, but at some point, do you want to spend all your money on coaches or do you want to compete with facilities (e.g. the new locker room)? You've got to think long-term. Aranda was never going to be a career DC here. At some point, he was going to leave. Attrition happens all the time in the coaching ranks. Unfortunately, the timing here isn't good.

Do you really think O is going to continue to accept being paid 3.5 mill or whatever he makes? fricking Kiffin and Missouri’s coach makes more than him right now.

Maybe JBE can spare some of that Louisiana state income tax hike that he is about ready to implement to pay to keep our coaches happy
