Not worried about finances. Big boosters have finally stepped up to provide the money we need to hire a big name.
And it's still Bob.

If you all hire Bob Stoops I'd salute that hire.

This Bob fantasy isn't funny anymore. This shite has poisoned some of the fanbase

Totally believe it’s bob stoops. Just want to delay announcing that as long as possible so that it can be more dramatic. There’s no recruiting advantage to getting a hire like that announced as soon as possible anyway

Why paint the field this week and set up the podium in the Champion's Club on Monday if we are hiring Norvell or any coach who has a game this weekend? All signs point to Bob.
I'll stick with my source. Just figured I would share with the board. If I'm wrong I'll own it.

He's not worth the gamble of a big guaranteed contract in my opinion.
Great. Then don’t hire him. Maybe he ends up staying in Memphis for one more year. I hope he does.
If FSU does pass on Norvell, whoever you do pursue is going to demand solid money because of the FSU name. And here is truth you seem to be unaware of- the market doesn’t give a shite about your school’s bad last hire or current financial and political situation. If any other school might pay it, they will hold it over you. This is a seller’s market and if they are worth a damn, someone will give them the money.

I'd gladly be wrong, but this stuff hasn't made sense for at least 2 weeks.

I am aware of this , only stupid people follow what someone else does instead of doing what's best for them .
What is worse , is calling fans from a school that is looking for a new coach stupid because they don't get a boner over the coaches that give them a boner.
If Orgeron got run over by a truck , I wouldn't tell LSU fans they were stupid for not liking a coach that I did.
It's like the agents for Kiffin , Campbell and Norvell are posting here.

Say what you will, but your admin chose to make a move in a year with few available candidates that measure up to larger jobs. If they are too good for Kiffin and Norvell, then what the frick are you guys doing other than swinging the wrecking ball at your program again? Who would you get otherwise?
I’m not calling you stupid. Shortsighted and arrogant maybe, but not stupid. You and your admin may not care what other schools are doing, but the candidates you are trying to hire and their agents do. FSU is still a big name, but not big enough to pull who they wanted to initially and not big enough to make their own rules when it comes to hiring a new coach. That’s just the reality of hiring a coach to a big time P5 school today.
LSU was in better shape in 2016 than FSU is today, and Alleva couldn’t just auto-stamp a hire and he had better available choices to work with than you guys do this year. It worked out in the end, but that was luck, honestly. Schools aren’t driving this process and naming their terms. The top available coaches are holding all the cards.
If you don’t like fans of other teams commenting on your potential hires, then what are you doing here? That’s what this board is all about.

What's to great about him?
He was mediocre at Tennessee and USC.
He's won a lot of C-USA games, but when he steps outside that league ooc to AAC or P5 it's a debacle.

That's exactly why he would go to either Arkansas or Ole Miss. He's had to listen to that for years and wants to shut it up.

You aren't stupid either , but you are hard headed.
Most FSU fans don't think Norvell is as good of a coach as you do.
Giving someone 30M plus guaranteed instead of giving 15-18M guaranteed to someone else for the same result isn't very intelligent.
Odell or Briles in my opinion would get the same results as Norvell for less money.
If Thrasher wants to do this , he better not beg us boosters anymore for money to bail out a bad decision by administration.
If they hire a 9-3 type coach we will not fill the stadium on a regular basis except maybe UF , Miami and Clemson.
Attendance is at the lowest in 25 years. They count season tickets in the attendance and it's in the 60-65k range in a 80k seat stadium.
But actual attendance is in the 50-55k range. They are getting money for the season tickets but are losing concession revenue and other things. Not to mention all of the walk up ticket purchases that aren't happening and that lost concession revenue.
6 home games are losing 12-15 million in possible revenue that the school needs.
Why gamble when you don't have to ?

Yes, I am. I would say the same about you and that’s not an insult.
I just think you are selling the man short. You will never have certainty with a G5 coach, but he’s shown that he is solid enough to trust to win. If you want a guarantee of better from those ranks, you won’t get it. All you will end up with is paying less and likely getting a lower ceiling in return.

Kiffin wasn't mediocre at USC. He was at least average to slightly above average. But, I put an asterisk during Kiffin's tenure at USC because he had to deal with scholarship limitations. I don't understand how some of you can judge a coach when he has to deal with scholarship limitations.
Tennessee was only one season and in that season the program was trending upward.

Based on what? I believe briles could end up being that but neither of them have the track record norvell does.
My question is this though...is FSU going to open the check book for assistants and support staff to compete with Clemson, bama, UGA, and lsu in recruiting and on assist. coaching hires?
What about facilities? What's the plan on upgrading?
Because if you don't do that, might want to get used to 8-4, 9-3, 10-2 seasons.

Lane isn't a good fit right now because of APR issues.

The whole Bob Stoops thing has been hilarious to watch. The crazy theories that some FSU "insiders" have come up with have been great.
A few things I have learned on the UF coaching searches
It is never Bob Stoops
It is never done until it is leaked to a national reporter. They always break the news, not a local guy.
Never listen to rumors with "booster" or "source" in the same sentence.

You must be listening to Finebaum and his lies.
We have great facilities , they just aren't football only. That's what Jimbo was bitching about. They are shared with other sports and part of the area has classrooms.
It was done that way to appease other sports and professors who whined that football wasn't sharing revenue.
100 million has been raised and 60 million will be spent on a football only facility. It is scheduled for completion in July 2021.
As for money for assistants , Jimbo got some raises for assistants. He asked again and was told if he didn't fire the DC and OL coach , they weren't getting raises. He refused , so no raises were given.
He also had the gall to come in before the 2017 Gator game and ask for yet another raise because A&M called. We were 4-6 and he asked for raise !
He got a raise when the Texas job opened and another when the LSU job opened. He was never happy.
I don't blame him for trying , but damn.
Boosters were pissed at him about Jameis Winston , pissed about administration giving him raises while the product on the field got worse , then the Taggart hire and buyout.
FSU fans and boosters are sick of the administration and their failures. They need to get this one right.
