No rush, as I don't don't start using this stuff until January, but I want to use this credit for bait casting stuff, as I am set with spinning. So, my main questions are:

When are the price reductions the most?
Are any of the Bass Pro brand reels good and what brand do they compare to? (I assume they are just like one of the others made by one of the Korean factories). Any of the others on sale now look to be a good buy?

Any of the Cabela's and/or BPS rod lines a good buy?

They’re fairly equivalent to Lew’s. I have a Carbon Lite and Pro Qualifier and have no complaints. They’ve lasted quite a few years and are still going strong.

ETA: The Carbon Lite rods are pretty good, too.

Cabela's currently has the Abu Garcia REVO SX in 8.0:1 gear ratio marked down from $160 to $100. I think it is on sale till 12/8. It is only that gear ratio though. The lower gear ratio versions of the reel are still $160.

Bass Pro brand rods and reels are actually pretty nice. I am not sure about the cabelas branded stuff. Never used it before

That's a good price for that revo sx. I have 4 revos and really like them. The quantum linked is a good reel and pretty sure it comes with quantum's 3 year warranty. I used to be a big quantum guy till I started fishing with the daiwa tatulas. I still have some Quantum tour mg's that I love. Most reels in the $100-200 range are going to be really solid. Never fished with BPS reels but I'm sure they're good as well since they have a bunch of pros using them like evers and defoe. I will say I loved my older carbonlite rods but 2 of them have snapped on my while making a cast. Not sure how the newer white ones are.
